Elsie Irene (Chamberlain) Hornback, of Owensville, was blessed to live to 100 years old. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 29, 2024 at RiverOaks Health Care in Princeton. Elsie was born March 24, 1924 in Griffin and worked in real estate. She also worked as a beautician and at Potter and Brumfield. One of her greatest joys was reading her bible and praying. She also loved sewing and passing the time watching TV.
Elsie is survived by her brother, Larry Dean Chamberlain; step-sons, Kenneth Sapp and Roy Sapp, Jr.; grandchildren, Brice David Hornback, Latricia DenaKay (Hornback) Tewell, Elaine Diane (Hornback) Sanchez, and Michael Lee Hornback; step-grandchildren, Ashley Sapp, Josh Sapp, Tina Sapp, and Shawn Sapp; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Tewell) McClaran, Jonanthan Hornback, Kyle Hornback, Jessica Hornback, Reina Valdivia Sanchez, Sophia Valdivia Sanchez, Kaeden Sanchez, Sariella “Sari” Sanchez, and Elena “Lanie” Sanchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles Richard Chamberlain and Viola Mae (Straw) Chamberlain, 1st husband, Robert Lee Hornback; 2nd husband, Roy Sapp; sons, Donald Lee Hornback and Gary Dean Hornback; and siblings, Troy Chamberlain, Charles Richard Chamberlain, Jr., Betty Jean (Chamberlain) Scott, and Elma Arlene (Chamberlain) Vogal.
The funeral service was held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Park in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Visiting hours were held 4 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Bethel Memorial Church located at 1520 S. Main St., Princeton, IN 47670 in honor of Elsie Hornback.
