Ernestine Hardiman

Ernestine (Proctor) Hardiman, 94, of Princeton, IN made her transition to eternal life on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN. She was born on December 8, 1928 to the late Hilda (Thrailkill) Proctor and Ernest Proctor in Shawneetown IL. She was very small and frail so the doctor said she would not survive to see the next day. But she did! Thus, she was given the nickname of “Teenie”.

Ernestine was a member of Wayman Chapel AME church in Lyles Station, IN where she loved to sing hymns. Her enjoyments included gardening, cooking, and sewing. She was a great helpmate for her husband ono the farm. Ernestine was basically kind, quiet, introspective, and expressed herself through daily journaling. Providing wonderful pleasure for her were birds, flowers, and listening to music. Playing bingo, dominoes, and Chinese checkers were fun game activities for her.

Ernestine is survived by her daughters, Phyllis A. Hardiman Walker of Indianapolis, IN, Linda K. Hardiman of Racine, WI, and Beverly S. Baltzell (Nathan) of Evansville, IN; a son, Gary D. Hardiman of Terre Haute, IN.; a grandson, Jason L. Armstrong of Evansville, IN; and great-grandchildren, JaiVontae, Jaileesa, Evelyn, and Jennie Armstrong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gletus R. Hardiman; sister, Thelma (Emerald) Malone; and brother, Harry Fred Thrailkill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of River Oaks Heath Campus and Intrepid Hospice for the special care given to Ernestine.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm April 28, 2023 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN with Rev. Connie Baltzell Jr. officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11am until the service at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery.
