George “Tony” Akers, 67, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at The Good Samaritan Home in Evansville. He was born September 12, 1954 in Princeton to the late George and Anna Mae Akers. He was a graduate of Princeton Community High School and retired after 30 years with Snap-On Tools in Mt. Carmel, IL and was a member of the Machinist Union there. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #1131 in Princeton.
Tony loved his wife and family dearly and will be missed by all. He enjoyed being outside and gardening, and spent his retirement time mowing and taking care of the Odd Fellows and Maple Hill Cemeteries in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kristi Akers of Princeton; 2 children, Sarah Akers and Michael Akers (Kara) both of Princeton; 2 grandchildren, Ethan and Hadleigh; 3 siblings, Debbie Wilson (Dean) of Clinton, IN, Doris Beasley (John) of Patoka and Jeff Akers of Princeton; also, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Yeager.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Interment will be private at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
