George Marlin Dearing, 58, of Lynnville and formerly of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born June 28, 1962 in Columbus, GA. He served his country in the U. S. Army as a military satellite communications specialist, while in Berlin, Germany. He was a member of the AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) and retired from the Larue Carter Indiana State Psychiatric Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and was known at the “Gentle Giant” and “Teddy Bear”, and was very talented at drawing and etching, and loved elephants.
George is survived by his mother, Madge (McKannan) Dearing of Lynnville; a son, Steven Dearing of Evansville; a daughter, Krystal Dearing of Independence, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Maliyah, Ashleigh and Nate; 4 siblings, William “Bill” Dearing (Jane) of Greenup, IL, Vicki Seitz Oks of Henderson, KY, Mark Dearing (Donna) of Evansville and Ada “Bunny” Christopher of Colorado Springs, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father, James O. Dearing; a brother, Jim Dearing; his longtime companion, Shirley Reed; and longtime best friend, Dwayne Blesch.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home.
Military rites will be provided at the cemetery by the Retired Military Veterans.
