Gerald “Jerry” Spore, 77 of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his home. He was born May 3, 1946 in Stewartsville, IN to Kenneth and Bonnie Ruth (Jessie) Spore. He was a retired corrections officer with the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, IN.
Jerry had lived in Princeton for the past 40 years, moving here from Anderson, IN. He had previously worked for Pendleton Correctional Facility and had worked in carpentry and construction. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing in the Wabash River and mushroom hunting. Jerry was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 during the Vietnam Conflict.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda of Princeton; sons, Donald Wayne and David William Spore of Princeton; brothers, Terry, Tom and Larry Spore; sisters, Susan and Belle; bonus children, Diane, Teresa, Janet, Brian, Brad, Kyler, Tracy, Steve and Ashley; bonus grandchildren, Demarcus, Dakota, Isaiah, Skyler, Mackenzie, Demetrius, Rylan, Vennie, Zachary, Melissa, Lance, Jake, Bradley, Lacy, Becky, Destiny, Brooklyn, and Marva; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob and Kenneth; and step-mother, Diane.
A funeral service will be held at the graveside at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Military rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans. Burial will follow the services. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton followed by a procession to the cemetery where services will begin.
