Harold Gieselman, 80, of Somerville, IN, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Good Samaritan Home & Rehab Center in Oakland City, IN.
Harold was born in Gibson County to the late August “Gus” and Aileen Gieselman. Also preceding Harold in passing was his wife, Betty; brother, Bill; sister Evelyn; and stepdaughter, Pauline.
Coal miner, mechanic, truck driver, Army veteran and tour bus driver were some of his trades, retiring from INDOT to become Somerville’s resident mower and golf cart rider. Throughout all of these jobs however, being a musician is what his heart held dear. He learned to play guitar at an early age, then went on to self-teach several other instruments, including the steel guitar that he played ‘til up near his death.
He was a simple, quiet man with a sense of humor. He will be remembered for his eyes twinkling of mischief as he grinned from ear to ear. Harold had that sense of “kid at heart”, loving bulldogs, fishing and Mickey Mouse all his life.
Surviving family members are his daughter, Carol Donner (Dwayne) of Somerville; son, Harold Gieselman, Jr. (Terry) of Somerville; stepdaughter, Paula Wallace of Evansville; numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Mackey Church of the Nazarene, 9612 E. Main St., Mackey, IN 47654 with Pastor Jared Henry officiating. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 3 pm on Monday at the church. Military Rites by Retired Military Veterans.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Good Samaritan Home & Rehab Center, 231 N. Jackson St., Oakland City, IN 47660 or Indiana Parkinson Foundation, 14350 Mundy Dr., Suite 800 #181, Noblesville, IN 46060, www.indianaparkinson.org. Envelopes will also be available at the church.
