Harold D. Leipold, 76, of Evansville and formerly of Princeton, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at North River Health Campus in Evansville. He was born September 4, 1943 in Olney, Illinois to the late Clifton and Mae (Baker) Leipold; however Harold was raised on a farm outside of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1967-1969 in Germany. Harold retired in 2009 as a product engineer for Tyco Electronics, formerly Potter & Brumfield (Siemens) in Princeton where he started in 1974. In 1998 he moved to Peachtree City, GA then on to Winston-Salem, NC, and retired in Tullahoma, TN. He was living in Evansville, IN at the time of his death.
Harold is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda (Martin) Leipold of Evansville to whom he was married in North Chicago, IL on August 28, 1971; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Neil Sternberg of Evansville and a son, Michael Leipold of San Francisco, CA; 2 grandchildren, Ashley and Caleb Sternberg of Evansville. He is also survived by a cousin Marilyn Hocking of Mt. Carmel, IL who was like a sister to him.
Burial will be private at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
A Celebration of Harold’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Amy Cates officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Colvin’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice or The Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
