Henrietta Stone Obituary

Henrietta Stone, 83, most recently of Newburgh, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 28th, 2025. She was born on March 7, 1942, in Haubstadt, Indiana, Henrietta was the daughter of Mildred and Henry Michel. Henrietta grew up in Fort Branch, Indiana and later settled in Princeton, Indiana with her husband Bill Stone. She dedicated over four decades of her life as a secretary and teacher at North Gibson School Corporation, where her kindness, patience, and diligence touched the lives of many students, teachers, and families. Henrietta was known for her warm heart and creative spirit. She found great joy in quilting and crafting, and she especially cherished time spent with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. A devoted sports fan, Henrietta rarely missed a chance to cheer on the IU Hoosiers or the St. Louis Cardinals. Her warmth and deep love for her family will be forever remembered by all who knew her.

Henrietta is survived by her three sons, Brad Stone of Princeton, IN; Brian Stone (Karen) of The Colonies, TX; and Kent Stone (Julie) of Camby, IN; two siblings, Donna (Randy) Atkinson of Allendale, IL "sister"; and Robert "Bob" (Mical) Michel "brother" of McCutchanville, IN; eight loving grandchildren: Megan (Chris) Johannsen and Abby Stone (children of Brian and Karen), Lyndsay Stone, Ryan Stone, Sean Stone, and Liam Stone (children of Brad), and Carter and Kelsey Stone (children of Kent and Julie); and her legacy continues in her two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Bennet Johannsen (children of Megan and Chris).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Stone; her daughter, Lana Marie Stone; and her parents, Mildred and Henry Michel.

A small private ceremony for the family will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Branch at a later date. 

For those who wish in lieu of flowers, Henrietta has asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Branch. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
