Homer Alan Minnis, 83 of Princeton passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Deaconess Gibson Hospital in Princeton. He was born November 27, 1940, in Princeton to Vivian Homer and Bertha (Welman) Minnis who preceded him in death.
Homer had lived in Gibson County all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1958 to 1961, where he was a Paratrooper for the 101st Airborne. He continued serving in the Army Reserves until January 1964. Homer was a retired masonry contractor and concrete finisher, owning and operating Minnis Construction. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family.
Homer is survived by his children, Christopher Minnis of Vincennes, Stephen Minnis (LaDonna) of Princeton and Andrea Short (Timothy) of Princeton; brothers, Thomas Minnis of Haubstadt, Kerry Minnis of New Port Ritchie, FL, Mike Minnis of Princeton; sisters, Beverly Hedge of Patoka and Francis Cline of Patoka; 9 grandchildren Aaron, Keenan, McKenzi, and Nathanial Minnis, Kieffer, Alec, and Lillian Minnis, Brad and Mike Short; and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the graveside in the Blythe Chapel Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 with Pastor Richard Comer officiating. Burial will follow the services there. The Retired Military Veterans will conduct military services. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
