Howard Lee Armstrong, 83, of Patoka, IN went home to be with the Lord May 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 20, 1940 in Martinsville, IL to the late Randall “Pete” Armstrong and Camille Armstrong. Howard was in the 1959 graduating class at Martinsville High School in Martinsville, IL. He proudly joined the US Airforce in 1961 and served until 1965. Howard worked for AT&T Communications for 25+ years then Essex as Maintenance for 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion and The Grange in O’Fallon, IL. Howard enjoyed writing poetry and spending time in nature hunting and fishing. He absolutely loved the White River and everyone loved eating Howard’s fish when he had a fish fry. Howard was loved by many and will deeply be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife, Babara Armstrong; son, Randall Armstrong; grandson, Jordan Lee Armstrong; siblings, William Jack Harvey and Margaret Comer-Lehne.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Ingrid (George) Robinson and Sharon Armstrong (Bob Toth); step-children, Misty Humphrey (Janet Kimberly Fahrni), Sam Humphrey, and Katherine (James Vincent) Sanderson; grandchildren, Desiree, Ravin, Jess, Macray, Dawson, and Megan; 10 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Arielle and Isaac; and 10 step great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 PM Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans. Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home.
