Jack Warren, Sr. Obituary

Jack Warren, Sr., passed away peacefully on March 3, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital after a brief illness. He was surrounded by the love of his family.

Jack was born on May 26, 1934 in Hazleton, IN to Mina (Lane) and Elvis Warren. The family moved to Princeton a few years later. Jack graduated from Princeton High School in 1952. During school he attended Boy’s State, was the recipient of the Rotary Scholarship, was one of the co-captains of the football team and was a member of the Honor Society.

Jack graduated with a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Southern Indiana where he was awarded the Outstanding Student in Business. He worked for the McDonald’s Corporation during its early days of expansion across the country. He won the Archie Award for outstanding regional management. Later, Jack served as a teacher and athletic director at South Knox High School. After retiring, he worked as a cook at Cricket’s. He loved Bill Mayfield and all of the wonderful daily customers.

Jack loved his country and family. He served in the Marine Corp. He loved his family most—his boys, daughters-in-law, his five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He cultivated a special relationship with each one.

Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ida Swan Warren; three sons, Jack, Jr. (Stephanie), Jeffrey (Kathy) and Joel (Rhonda); 5 grandchildren, Dane, Jared, Jillian, Haley and Hannah Warren; 5 great grandchildren, Ethan and Cade Warren, Owen and Ella Kimbrough and Annabelle Warren. He loved his many nieces and nephews. His dearest friends were his in-laws; Ed and Shirley Swan, John and Carol Hyneman and Bob and Roxanne Swan.

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Vanlah Hruaia. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm on Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home. Military graveside services by Retired Military Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
