Jackie "Jack" Lee Woods

Jackie “Jack” Lee Woods, 77, of Princeton, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at home. He was born on January 13, 1943 to Doris “Bud” F. Woods and Joy Marie Woods in Princeton.  He was a devoted son, loving husband, proud father and grandfather. He was a member of the former Faith United Methodist Church. Jack was a member of the 1960 American Legion State Championship Baseball Team and graduated from Princeton High School in 1961. He attended Kentucky Wesleyan College on a baseball scholarship and was a proud member the Sigma Nu Fraternity, graduating in 1965. He attended graduate school at Indiana University and received his master’s degree in 1974 from the University of Evansville. Jack began his teaching career at Princeton High School teaching English, Literature, World History and Psychology for 13 years. He was varsity golf coach for 1 year, freshman and assistant varsity basketball for 9 years and head baseball coach for 10 years. He was also the assistant principal at PCMS for 11 years, then principal for 12 years, retiring in 2003. He served as President of the local Princeton Teacher Association. Jack enjoyed his many years of coaching Little League Baseball.  Jack, along with Ted Hitch, was instrumental in bringing the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union to Princeton.

Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Woods (They met while attending U of E and married at Neu Chapel on the U of E Campus); daughter, Khelia Brink (TJ) of Vincennes; sons, Cabott Woods (Jennifer) of Panama City, FL and Clay Woods (Rebecca) of Columbus, OH; granddaughters, Savannah Woods & Briley Brink; grandson, Nolan Woods; nephews, Kevin Reine (Michelle) & Mark Walts (Yvette).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud & Joy Marie Woods; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles & Fern Paulson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike & Charlotte Walts.

Funeral service will be held graveside at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, with Pastor Matt Swisher officiating. Burial will follow.
