Jackson McDowell Obituary

Jackson B. McDowell, 88, of Patoka, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville. He was born June 8, 1933 in Oakland City to Harper and Meeleesa (Smith) McDowell. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Patoka for the past 30 years after moving from Prospect, KY. He began working for Kroger at the age of 16 and worked there 43 years managing stores in Prospect, KY Vincennes and Princeton. Later he owned and operated River Bluff Antiques. He was a member of Patoka United Methodist Church, Prince Masonic Lodge #231 and was a Hadi Shriner and a former Jaycee. He enjoyed collecting antiques, hunting, fishing and his dog, Molly.

Jackson is survived by his children, Susan Froyd (Stephen) of Princeton and Mark McDowell (Joyce) of Wakarusa; grandchildren, Blain McDowell (Casey) of Grand Rapids, MI, Aaron McDowell (Lindsey) of Westfield, IN and Meagan Froyd of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchildren Paige, Brooke and Thea McDowell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor McDowell in March 2021; and sister, Shirley Mosseson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery near Hazleton. Visitation will be from 12 pm until the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.
