James P. Lanman

James P. Lanman, 84 of Princeton passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Heritage Center in Evansville. He was born March 16, 1935 in Evansville to the late Charles Paul Lanman and Pauline M. (Milburn) Turpin. He married Marjorie (Davis) Lanman and she preceded him in death on December 20, 2015. 

James served in the United States Army Reserves. He graduated high school from Princeton and took 2 years at Indiana State University. James worked for the Indiana State Police and served many roles with the force including his first role as a State Trooper, a Public Information Officer, and a Detective from 1957 until 1977. He retired as a Detective Sargent then went on to work as a car salesman for 19 years at Bob Kranitz. James was a member of Bethel Memorial Church and a lifelong Mason. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time and especially enjoyed woodworking in his wood shop. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.  

James is survived by his children, Marla K. Steiner of Houston, Texas, Jim M. Lanman (Kelly) of Bloomington, Steve Lanman (Rhonda) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Scott Lanman of Traverse City, Michigan; step-children, Lisa Lewis and Larry Rumple (Tammy); grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Taylor, Tyler, and Hannah; step-grandchildren, Lane, Heath, Natalie, and Kyra; 2 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Mike Lanman; and sister, Mary Jo Boeglin.  

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Columbia White Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Interment will follow. No visiting hours will be held.
