James Wilkerson, Sr., 70, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, July 6th 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by family. James was born September 16, 1953 in Princeton to the late William Wilkerson and Velma Rose Wilkerson. He graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1972. James worked for Duke Energy for 30 years as a Chemical Operator. He was a member of Greater Holy Temple Family Worship Center and served as a deacon for 24 years. James was a foster parent for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, fishing, and was the coach for the PCHS bowling team for 2 years. James enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula; 4 sons, James Jr (Marcia), Tracey and Josiah, all of Princeton and Kenneth of Florida; daughter, Inez of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Gillium of Springfield Ohio and Fonda Wilkerson of Princeton; a special cousin like a sister, Louise Wilkerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilkerson Sr. and Velma Berry Wilkerson; brother, William “Bugs” Wilkerson; sisters, Wilma Jean Wilkerson and Mary Meriweather.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton with Elder James Wilkerson Jr., Elder William Simmons, and Pastor Floyd Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 2 pm until service time at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.
Memorial donations may be made to Greater Holy Temple Family Worship Center, 202 E. Pinkney St., Princeton, IN 47670. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
