Jeanette (Schoonover) Young

Jeanette Young, 85, of Somerville, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born July 14, 1936 in Evansville to Floyd and Laura (West) Schoonover.  She moved from Evansville to Somerville in 1988. She worked as a caretaker and enjoyed raising plants & flowers and taking care of her dogs.

Jeanette is survived by five children, Trina Schaefer (Michael) of Elberfeld, Tim Young (Barbara) of Richland City, John Young (Connie) of Somerville, Kaye Durbin (Bill) of Evansville and Cheryl Gates (Brian) of Mt. Vernon, IL; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 3 great great  grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Earl Young in 2011; grandchildren, Kacie Young, Sarah Young and Joshua Schaefer; and sisters, Jeri Sanders and JoAnn Brown.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.
