Jerry Patterson Obituary

Jerry Patterson, 74, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Evansville. He was born April 27, 1947 to the late William and Virginia (Montgomery) Patterson in Princeton. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1970 and met and fell in love in Abilene, Texas with his wife, Linda (Zuck) Patterson. They were married May 23, 1970 and have been blessed with 51 years together. Jerry graduated with his bachelors from USI-E, masters from ISU, and perused social work with the CETA Program for a couple years. Then he became an educator for the North Gibson School Corporation for 28 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder for several years. Jerry also worked as a City Councilman for several years and enjoyed coaching little league, girl's softball, and basketball. He was hometown proud, enjoyed his life in Princeton, and loved his community. He was also a past member of the Optimist Club and after retirement, continued work at Menards, a job he loved. Jerry was a "hometown boy" who will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Patterson of Princeton; daughters, Christa Patterson of Louisville, KY and Abbey Patterson of Indianapolis; siblings, Judy Cornoyer of Princeton and David Patterson (Debra) of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hasselbrinck Patterson of Princeton, Carolyn Hofacket of FL, Lisa Walker of TX, and Vida White of TX; and multiple nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Amanda Patterson; brother, Gary Patterson, brother-in-law, Bob Cornoyer; mother and father-in-law, Retith Phemister Zuck Keahey and Wayne Zuck; step-father-in-law, Coy Keahey; sister and brother-in-law, Jimmy and Laura Trammell; and brother-in-law, Don Hofacket.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church located at 204 S. Hart St. in Princeton, IN. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 until the service hour, 4:00 PM at the church Friday. The family requests that guests please wear their masks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Princeton Area Dollars For Scholars c/o Susan Mason, 1645 East State Rd 64, Princeton, IN  47670.
