Jerry R. Hunt

Jerry R. Hunt, 81 of Spurgeon, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.  He was born January 22, 1941 in Boonville, IN to Charlie and Gladys Hunt. 

He was a retired truck driver, working for Rose Brothers and Elmer Buchta Trucking for 20 years. He had lived in Spurgeon since 1988 and had attended the Spurgeon United Methodist Church.   

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Eggers) Hunt in 2020; his parents; three daughters, Tammy, Jennifer, and Patricia Hunt; his brother, Jack Hunt; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Hazel Eggers.

Jerry is survived by his sisters-in-law, Juanita Robinette (Wade) of Abingdon, VA, Betty Sue Rose of Cobern, VA, Ruby Yates of Clinchco, VA, Kathy Rose (Archie Ennis) of Peterstown, WVA and Connie Cress (Jerry Turner) of Clintwood, VA; brothers-in-law, Dan Eggers (Darlene), of Yorkville, IL and Jim Eggers (Margaret) of Bristol, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, IN with Pastor Josh Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from10:30 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
