Jerry West, 66, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his home in Princeton. He was born August 16, 1958 in Pennington Gap, Virginia to the late Carl H. West and Goldie L. (Cornett) Ison. Jerry worked at Snap-On in Mt. Carmel for 26 years, then at Leadec Industrial Services for the next 20 years. He was a hard worker, loyal and dedicated to not only his job, but to his family. He loved going to concerts and traveling with his wife. His grandkids were his life, he loved spoiling them and watching their activities. Jerry liked the Chicago Bears and the Kentucky Wildcats, but was the absolute number one Chicago Cubs fan. He loved his Dodge trucks, was unapologetically himself, often caught mowing the yard or taking the lawnmower for joy rides; he wore his heart on his sleeve and could “read people”. Jerry was brutally honest and said what was on his mind, those who he loved, knew it. Those who loved him, will miss him dearly.
Jerry is survived by his wife married for 24 years, but together for 44, Marcia (Pratt) West of Princeton; sons, Brandon Wilhite (Dusty) of Princeton and Jason West (Kelly) of Evansville; grandchildren who he loved beyond measure, Logan (Alaina), Ryne, and Addison Wilhite and Jaycie and Jayla West; siblings, Carleen Hale of Delaware, Lana Bates (Tim) of Princeton, and Garry West (Joyce) of Mississippi; special friend, Keith Fisher; nieces and nephews, Carla, Leesa, Somer, Timara, Jaeleigh, Joshua, Rockie, and Michael; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherrie Torres, special cousin who was his double first cousin, Dewey Lee West; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Jonathan Ryser. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Evansville. Visiting hours will be held from 5 until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. In honor of Jerry, the family would like to welcome guests to wear their Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, University of Kentucky, or your favorite sports team apparel.
