Jimmie Ray Stewart

Jimmie Ray Stewart, 83, of Princeton, IN passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at RiverOaks Heath Campus surrounded by family. He was born July 21, 1941 in Princeton to the late Sylvester H. and Hazel (White) Stewart. Jimmie graduated from Princeton High School in 1959. He attended Evansville College, now known as University of Evansville, and earned a Bachelor’s degree. After college Jimmie proudly served in the US Army. He worked as an owner operator of Stewart Oil for many years. Jimmie was a member of the American Legion and last surviving member of Darwin Nelson and the Blaze Makers, where he played piano. He loved jazz music and spending time out in nature. In earlier years Jimmie enjoyed collecting trains, farming, and gardening. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Robyn Wilson.

He is survived by his sisters, Jennie Stewart and Jeanne Wilson; nephew, Ron Wilson; niece, Paula (Scott) Lasley; great nieces and nephews, Chris (Danielle) Lasley, Ryan (Kerilynn) Lasley, Aly (Jaiden) Scott, Mike (Jessica) Wilson, David (Samantha) Wilson, and William (Renee) Wilson.

A graveside service will be held 2 PM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Brian Holzappel officiating. Military honors will be provided by The Retired Military Veterans.
