Joe W. Jenkins

Joe W. Jenkins, 87, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026 at The Waters of Princeton. He was born January 12, 1939 in Oatsville, IN to Marion “Cap” and Kathryn (Myrick) Jenkins.

Joe had lived in Princeton since 1969 moving here from Oatsville. He was a retired mechanic working for Patriot Mining for 24 years. Many years ago, he worked at the former Temple Chevrolet as well as other places in the area. The one thing he loved to do was to help the local farmers especially when it came to driving the combine at harvest where he could spend all day and into the night harvesting crops.  He graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1957, was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local, and the Hillside United Methodist Church.

Joe is survived by his wife Peggy Jenkins, to whom he married December 27, 1969, celebrating 56 years together; sister-in-law, Dona Jenkins; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Wes and Tina Clark.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence “Chick” Jenkins, Robert Jenkins (Betty), William Dale ”Cully” (Helena) Jenkins, Forrest “Hoss” (Jackie) Jenkins; sister, Marion Eloise Evans; and infant brother, Claris Jenkins.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2026. at the Columbia White Church Cemetery with Pastor Jenny White officiating.  Burial will follow the services.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton followed by a procession to the cemetery for the service. Those going to the cemetery are asked to come to the funeral home and follow in the procession.
