Joetta G. (Edwards) Tislow

Joetta G. (Edwards) Tislow, 79, of Hazleton passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at her home. She was born on December 30, 1944, in Gibson County, Indiana, to the late Orlan and Olive Edwards.

Jo married the love of her life, Michael Tislow, on July 10, 1964. Jo and Mike shared 59 years of marriage before his recent passing in January. Together they shared a life in Hazleton where they were surrounded by a community that loved them. She worked at Walmart for many years before retiring. Jo enjoyed sitting on her front porch and visiting with any neighbors who would stop by to visit. You could often find her tending to her garden, mowing the lawn, helping split firewood, and watching ball games on TV. She loved to cook for Mike or anyone else who wanted to pull up a chair at the table to enjoy a conversation. Jo would open her home to any neighborhood kids who wanted to stop by, and she always made time for them. While most of those kids are adults now, the lasting impact that she and Mike had on their lives will never be forgotten.

Jo is survived by her brother-in-law, Jerry Tislow, of Hazleton; sister-in-law, Sandy Adams (Bill) of Vincennes, and her friends and neighbors who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Tislow; and sister, Ruth Edwards.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside at 3 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Shiloh Cemetery with Chuck Longabaugh officiating. There will be no visitation. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
