John Greenwell Obituary

John W. Greenwell, 90, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Lucy Smith King Hospice in Henderson. He was born May 22, 1935 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late Joseph T. Greenwell and Caroline E. (Wathen) Greenwell and worked as an estimator for 33 years at Zenith in Evansville. John served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He grew up in Owensville and was a graduate of Owensville High School. John was a member of Good Shephard Catholic Church in Evansville. He loved woodworking making several cabinets and other creations. John also enjoyed 3 years at HomePlace of Henderson and traveling the world including 52 countries.

John is survived by his siblings, Lucy Gaston, Max Greenwell, and Ron Greenwell and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Father Zach Etienne officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton where the Retired Military Veterans will conduct military rites. Visiting hours will be held from 10 until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
