John Robert Greenwood, 70, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born December 30, 1953 in Linton and enjoyed his long career as an over the road truck driver getting to see the nation and spend quality time with each of his family members. John loved talking and telling stories. He could be ornery at times as his nicknames were “Dirty Ole Truck Driver” and his CB handle, “Knightstalker”, but he loved his family, especially his grandkids. John was looking forward to meeting his second great-grandchild and enjoyed watching old trucker movies like, “Smokie and the Bandit” and “Convoy”. He loved plenty and will be missed beyond measure.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Christina (Gardener) Greenwood of Princeton; children, Jason Gardener of South Bend, Krystal Miskell of Princeton, Matt “Monkey” Greenwood (Alexandria Schoon) of Mt. Carmel, and Daniel Greenwood (Angel Slater) of Princeton; 8 grandchildren, Eric Ray, Jesika Ann, Tristin Max, Danielle Daune Marie, Shyann Mary Nicole, Harmony Lynn Rose, William Jackson, and Aaron James; great-grandchild, Jaxson Lee and one great-grandchild on the way, whose nickname is “Peanut”. Other survivors include his sisters, Mary Anne Mason of Noble and Autumn Jackson (Charles) of Noble; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Lee Greenwood and Kathryn Arbutus (Wakefield) Greenwood; daughter, LaDonna Slunder; and brothers, Roger Lee Greenwood and Jeff Greenwood; and brother-in-law, James Mason.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
