John B. Tolbert, 94, of Hazleton passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born January 25, 1931 in Giro, IN to Walter Carl and Ruth Ella (Whittington) Tolbert. John had lived in the Hazleton Giro area all of his life. He was a retired farmer, enjoyed farming, gardening, and taking care of the animals. He raised, cattle and hogs in his earlier years.
John is survived by his wife, of nearly 70 years, Marie (Krug) Tolbert, of Hazleton to whom he married November 25, 1955; son, Bryan Tolbert (Michele) of Giro; grandchildren, Bryanne Parker (Logan), Jonathan Tolbert (Olivia), Devan Lambert, Jessi Worthington (Aaron), and Mitch Richardson (Brandy); great-grandchildren, Waylon, Kash, Jax, Roman, Makenlie, Grace, Layne, May, Riley, Parker, Levi, and Dylan. John was the second child of the seven children of Walter and Ella Tolbert.
John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janice Tolbert Hartman; sister, Jennie “Pudd” Tolbert; brothers, Bertis and Roy “Quig” Tolbert.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Ricky Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazleton Community Cemetery near Hazleton. Visitation will be held from 12 pm until the service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
