Joseph Greenwell Obituary

Joseph H. Greenwell finished his journey on this earth on Sept. 9th, 2020.  He was born near Morganfield, KY on November 3rd, 1931 to Joseph T. & Caroline [Wathen] Greenwell.  Mr. Greenwell is survived by his wife, Donna of Benton, KY; daughters, Giselle [Steve] Christmas, Owensville, IN, Marveda [Willie] Rudd, Williamstown, KY, & Jacquline Smith, Jacksonville, FL; sons, Stephen [Trish] Greenwell, Owensville, IN & Mark Greenwell, Lexington, KY; sister, Lucy Gaston, Princeton, IN; brothers, John, Evansville, IN, Charles (Max), Evansville, IN, & Ronnie, Tennessee; grandchildren, Wes Christmas, Heather Pohl, Matt Hubbard, Ryan Hubbard, Kelly Whitley, Ryan Smith, & Dalton, Grant & Cole Greenwell; nine great grandchildren; stepchildren, Angela [Todd] Schultze, Godfrey, IL, & Kendall [Amy] Glass, Paducah, KY; several great & grandchildren.

Mr. Greenwell was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jeanette Meeks, Bettie Grubb & Virginia Gray; brothers, Thomas (Buddy), Jerry, & Wm. Alonzo Greenwell.

Joe served his country as Cpl. Greenwell in Korea during the conflict.  He was assigned to a combat engineer battalion as a Morse code operator on MLR.

Mr. Greenwell worked for the USDA in and around Cincinnati, Ohio for 30 years as a meat inspector.

Joe Henry was an avid fisherman on Kentucky Lake.  For 40+ years, he met his buddies to deer hunt in Northern Kentucky.  He loved restoring old tractors and drove them in parades and the annual hayride at the fall festival at his church, Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN officiated by Pastor Johnny Coffenberry. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. Military services will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
