Larry Samuel Abbott, 83, of Sullivan, formerly of Princeton passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at The Waters of Sullivan. He was born June 26, 1941 to the late Union Samuel Abbott and Clara Mae (McCormick) Abbott. Larry worked for 28 years as a heavy equipment operator for Hoosier Energy and later Gibson Energy. He was an artist of many mediums including wood carving, making signs, paint and more. He was a past president of Sullivan Shifters where he enjoyed his 1940’s Ford Pick-Up Truck while carving wood. He attended every Frog Follies event except the last 2 years. He was loved and will be missed.
Larry is survived by his wife of 45 and half years, Doris Jean Abbott of Sullivan; children, Charlene Hale (Donald) of Owensville, Jeffery Abbott (Maria) of Princeton, and Darlene Hyneman (Roy) of Hazleton; step-children, Ronald Lee Rhoderick (Jennifer) of Oakland City, and Donald Lee Rhoderick of Grayville; grandchildren, Taylor Market, Ryan Market, Jeffery Abbott, Jr., and Johnny Ray Swope; several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Brody and Brooks Market and Simon and Marshall Swope; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Tana Jean Gross; and grandchild, Kaydence Hyneman.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton with interment to follow.
