Linda Gillum Obituary

 

Linda Christine Gillum, 79, of Princeton, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at The Waters of Princeton. She was born March 31, 1941 in Oakland City to the late Kenneth and Melba Jo (Sadler) Gillum. Linda lived most of her lifetime in Princeton, coming from Oakland City. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Princeton. She was a longtime member of Oakland City American Legion Post 256 Auxiliary, where she served as secretary and also treasurer many times. In 1979 she was able to see her mother, Melba Gillum, elected as state president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Linda had worked at the former Devoe & Reynolds Brush Factory and a clerk for many years at the former G.C. Murphy Co., then Index Notions, Bargain World, 3-D, Big Wheel and then retired from Walmart.

She is survived by her son, Bradley S. Gillum of Princeton; 2 grandchildren, Brad Gillum Jr. (Abby) of Fort Branch and Anna Sharp (Shayla) of Midland, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Joanna Kay Gillum and Hadyn Grace Jackson; a sister, Sharon Ann Crane (Terry) of Evanston, WY; a niece, Le Ann France (Terry) of Cheyenne, WY; a nephew, Christopher Crane of Salt Lake City, Utah; a great niece, Piper France and a great nephew, Conor France.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton.

The family would like to Thank the staff at The Waters of Princeton for their love, attention and care. Especially during these times of Covid-19, and also to, Drs. Snyder, Warren and Vincent, and especially Dr. Arun Kumar for their special care over the many years.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to The National Epilepsy Foundation at epilepsy.com, or The Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org. Envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s.
