Lois M. Smith, 94, of Patoka, IN was called home on Monday, July 7, 2025 at RiverOaks Health Campus surrounded by family. She was born August 26, 1930 in White County, IL to the late Christopher F. Lichtenberger and H. Elizabeth (Weiss) Lichtenberger. Lois married R. Eugene Smith November 15, 1952 and was blessed with 45 years before his passing August 13, 1998. She worked as the secretary and treasurer for Smith Electric Company. Lois was a member of Broadway Christian Church in Princeton, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Pink Lady Auxiliary. She was also a 40-year member of Alpha Sigma Chapter of Psi Iota Xi and chapter member of the former morning Etude. Lois was involved in a number of groups at church including the church choir, Christian women’s fellowship group, and church women united.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R. Eugene Smith; sisters, Evelyn Creek, Ruth Glenn, Roberta Lewis, and Wilma Wilson; brothers, Chester Lichtenberger, Robert Lichtenberger, and Cecil Lichtenberger; daughter-in-law, Karen Smith; and son-in-law, Aaron Mayhall.
Lois is survived by her children, Jennifer Mayhall and Jeff Smith; grandchildren, Zachary (Lindsey) Mayhall, Kyle (Kassy) Mayhall, and Caleb (Sarah) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Cooper, Noah, Madelynn, and Elaina.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home with Pastor Cory Atkins officiating and burial to follow at Decker Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM until the service time at the funeral home Sunday. Online condolences can be given at ColvinFuneralHome.com where you can share a memory of Lois with her family.
