Marcia Carolyn Williams, 91, of Princeton, IN passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born to the late Alexander and Pearl (Horath) Johnson on June 28, 1933 in Gibson County where she resided her entire life. She was the final surviving member of eight children born to this union and represented the last of her generation of both the Johnson and Williams families.
Marcia retired after 25 years of service with the (former) Princeton Telephone Company where she was chief operator-supervisor of the traffic department. She was a woman with unwavering faith and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Princeton. Her leisure time was spent with her beloved family and pets, reading her bible, perusing magazines and catalogues, and watching Hallmark movies. People often marveled that she had a telephone in every room of her house, a homage to her many years at the telephone company. Marcia was often seen baking while visiting with friends and family at her kitchen island. Everyone always felt comfortable dropping by the house for a visit and a cup of coffee and loved her fudge, cookies, and her delicious pies! Marcia and Doris, her husband of 45 years and the love of her life, loved camping and traveling (especially their trips to Texas), and they often spent time together woodworking and tole painting their many creations. She passed on her artistic talents through the painting classes she taught. Always the giver, she volunteered weekly as a Pink Lady at Gibson General Hospital for many years in her retirement.
Marcia is survived by her daughter, Debbie Lynch and her husband, Steve of Patoka; her son, Neal Williams and his wife, Tracy of Fort Worth, TX; 3 granddaughters, Stephanie Bohanon (Ronda Murphy) of Indianapolis, Shelly and Doug Frey of Evansville, and Rachel Williams and her fiance’, Logan Freeman of Dallas, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Cameron Frey (Macy Broshears), Gabrielle Frey and her fiance’, Seiler Sanderson, and Emma Bohanon (Kevin Sampaio); and many special nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Doris R. Williams (July 7, 1997), and her 7 siblings, brothers Harold, Owen, Nola, Kenneth and Joe Ray Johnson and sisters, Neva Wilson and Imogene Glover.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Jim Saunders officiating. Interment will follow at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm Wednesday, February 19th and again from 10 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Marcia's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful RiverOaks family for the loving care, companionship, and joy they’ve shared over the past seven years. Their kindness and support will forever be cherished.
