Margaret Ann (White) Dodson, 96, of Vincennes, formerly of Patoka, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Gentlecare Nursing and Rehabilitation in Vincennes. She was born November 2, 1923 in Patoka to the late Elza “Elzie” L. and Myrtle Mae (Bryant) White. She was a Riveter at Republic Aviation in Evansville, working on P-47D “Thunderbolts” during war times. She married Stephen Arthur Dodson on September 1, 1950 and they were blessed with about 36 years together before his passing in 1986. She retired from Gibson General Hospital as a nurse’s aide after working more than 30 years in healthcare. She was a member of Patoka United Methodist Church of Patoka and an over 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid Cardinals fan, enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne, and loved adventure and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her son, Steve (Gerri) Dodson of Mt. Carmel, IL; daughter-in-law, Debbie Dodson of Vincennes, IN; grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Tiffany Cooper, and Amber Dodson; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Dylan Cooper, Serenity Dodson, and Riley Smith; and a sister-in-law, Essie Bell White.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stephen Arthur Dodson; son, Thomas Lee Dodson; granddaughter, Stacy Lee Dodson; 2 brothers, Robert White and Kenneth B. White; sister-in-law, Virginia Lee White.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka. Interment will follow. Visitation will be held from 9:45 until the hour of service on Thursday at the cemetery in Patoka.
