Marilyn Marie Hudson, 81, of Patoka, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville. She was born June 22, 1939 in Patoka to Perry and Evedene (Alvis) Sloan. She married James David Hudson on August 14, 1960, and they were blessed with 60 wonderful years together.
Marilyn’s greatest commitment in life was to her family, regularly attending their sporting and musical events and supporting the family farm. She worked for the Princeton Telephone Company, taught private piano lessons, and retired from the Gibson County Treasurer’s Office in 2008.
She was an active, lifelong member of the Patoka United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and piano for more than 55 years. She also sang in the church choir, was active with the children’s ministry, and served on multiple committees. She cherished her church family. She was a 1957 graduate of Patoka High School and had served as the Patoka Alumni Association’s secretary for many years. She had been a member of Patoka Homemakers and was currently a member of Cherry Grove Homemakers. She enjoyed cooking, music, and playing games with family and special friends.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, David Hudson; three children, Ron (Kathy) Hudson, Maria (Bob) Stone, and Rick Hudson; four grandchildren, Kayla (Trevor) Cotterman, Alyssa (Jeff) Koberstein, Andy Stone, and Matt Stone; great-grandchildren, Carly Koberstein, Beau and Lani Cotterman, and another great-grandchild due in April; a sister-in-law, Jane Hudson; and two nephews, J.D. Hudson and Doug Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mac and Eloise Hudson; and a brother-in-law, Donald Hudson.
Colvin Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, November 28 at 2:00 pm at Decker Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Armitage officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Colvin Funeral Home Facebook page.
