Mark Hunter

Mark Hunter, 71, of Princeton, IN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for two years. He was surrounded by the love of his family and the presence of God. Mark was married to the love of his life, Jen (Cundiff), for 48 years. Through the joys and challenges of life, they remained by each other’s side, sharing a lifetime of memories, family, and love.

Mark spent 38 years as a car salesman, a career he learned to love in part because of the example of his dad. His father owned Hudson’s Furniture and taught Mark the ropes of business, and more importantly, how to treat people. Mark carried those lessons throughout his life. The people who knew Mark knew his greatest accomplishments had nothing to do with selling cars—it was his family.

To his daughter Sheena, Mark was more than her Daddy O’; he was her best friend, and she was always his baby girl. Their relationship was one of the most special parts of both of their lives. Nick, Mark’s son-in-law, was considered a son to Mark and was greatly cherished. 

His four grandsons, Micah (14), Jack (12), Lincoln (9), and Holland (9), were his entire world. Mark showed up for every game, but his love for them went far beyond the ballfield. He taught them how to fish, how to swim, made sure they were well fed, and always wanted them around. More than anything, he simply loved being their Papa.

Mark was one of eight siblings and was deeply loved by his six surviving siblings, who remained close throughout his life. Together, they showed what a loving family really looks like.

Mark enjoyed watching the Cubs, IU, and his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed playing volleyball on Sundays, gardening, and fishing. Overall, Mark just enjoyed life. He is already deeply missed by so many.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Hunter and Mary Teresa (Pedersen) Hunter; infant sibling, David Brent Hunter; brother, William “Bill” Hunter; and brother-in-law, Duane Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Jen Hunter; daughter, Sheena Hunter (Nick Rainey); siblings, Cathy Hunter, Nancy Miller, Susan Hunter, Joe E. (Leann) Hunter, Kevin (Lynn) Hunter, and Mateo (Kiresten) Hunter; grandsons, Micah, Jack, Lincoln, and Holland Hunter; nieces; and nephews.
