Marvin “Mac” Reed, 87, of Princeton, went to his heavenly home Friday, August 8, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born May 14, 1938 in Princeton to the late Alvin Reed and Irma (Brittingham) Reed. Mac had been dedicated to God since the early 60’s, a devoted husband, father, deacon, and friend. He spent 3 years serving in the United States Marines as an ammunition technician (sharp shooter) and worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 33 years, retiring at age 58. He married Nina (Ringham) Reed on August 5, 1961 and they were blessed with 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2023. Mac was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton and the Pike County Coon Hunters Club. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and most of all, being with his family.
Mac is survived by his children, Edward Reed (Yilan) of Indianapolis, Kimberly Blaize (Bruce) of Princeton, and Tina Thompson (Travis) of Princeton; grandchildren, Bethany Donovan (Peter), Dallas Reed (Katy), Marisa Miller (Jonathan), Tia Gooch (Cordell), TaraKate Curl (James), and Tabi Thompson; great grandchildren, Mia and Max Reed, Lincoln Donovan, and Naomi Gooch; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 4 siblings.
The family will host a gathering of family and friends from 9 to 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025 First Baptist Church in Princeton. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Saunders officiating. Military Honors by members of the Retired Military Veterans will be held at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
