Mary Gladish Evans Obituary

Mary Alice Gladish Evans, of Princeton, went to be with Jesus December 30, 2023 at 101 years old. She was born July 25, 1922 in Pike County to the late Jesse E. Burton and Emma M. (Wiseman) Burton. She married Howard Gladish in 1942 in San Diego, California. They had 7 children, Jane McCoy (Fred), Judy Ash (Dave), Claudia Blanton (Jerry), Michael Gladish (Pam), Cheryl McConnell (Larry), Toni Pollock (Jed), and Alecia Rodgers (Scott). She then married Paul Evans in 2000 which blessed her with step-children, Stanley Evans, Phil Evans (Kathy), and Paula Carnahan (Michael).

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Howard Gladish in 1989; 2nd husband, Paul Evans in 2017; daughter, Janie McCoy; son-in-law, Larry McConnell; great-granddaughter, Jorgie Queen; step-son, Stanley Evans; and step-granddaughter, Elaine Evans.  

She leaves behind  6 children; 15 grandchildren; Barbi McCoy, Brenda McCoy Sales, Brandi McCoy Picard, Christy Ash Probus, Carrie Ash Oberst, April Blanton Law, Jackie Blanton Griesemer, Travis Gladish, Kelly Gladish Murphy, Luke McConnell, Tera Pollock Turpin, Clint Pollock, Jake Pollock, Braun Rodgers, and Marisa Rodgers Queen. She has 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mary’s legacy is in her family, the faith and hope in Jesus Christ that she taught them, along with unconditional love she had for each one of them. She loved her church Hillside United Methodist, always enjoyed the Senior Center, and the 5 years she lived in assisted living at River Oaks. She also enjoyed visiting Bethel Memorial Church. She was always very content in all the circumstances of her life. She lived her 101 years in full, embracing each day.

A funeral service for Mary will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson and Pastor Ed Gladish. Interment will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visiting hours will be held from 10 until Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hillside United Methodist Church located at 828 W Archer Rd, Princeton, IN 47670 or Bethel Memorial Church located at 1520 S Main St, Princeton, IN 47670.
