Mary Josephine Houchins, 83, of Morganfield, KY and formerly of Princeton, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born on March 18, 1938 to Anton and Helen (Sinkule) Hladik in Chicago, IL. Mary graduated from Little Company Mary School of Nursing in Evergreen Park, IL. She worked as a registered nurse in Chicago in Pediatrics at the Chicago Health Department. After moving to Princeton, IN, she worked at Gibson General Hospital and Gibson County Health Department. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Princeton for 40 years. She had attended St. Peter Church in Waverly, KY since 2009.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Antonette Houchins; son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Pflug; grandson, Charlie J. Harris (Rachel); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Houchins; and sister, Helene O’ Brien.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at St. Joseph Church in Princeton, with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 26th from 4 until 8 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.
