Mary Louise Morris

Mary Louise Morris, of Princeton, Indiana, passed away on August 29, 2026.

Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 19, 1962, to Willie Hawthorne and Betty (Parker) Hawthorne. She was one of six children and grew up alongside her siblings, Toi (George) Haley, Willetta Gentry, Karita Hawthorne, Josh Hawthorne, and Willie Hawthorne Jr.

Mary leaves behind the love of her life and best friend of 37 years, Rodney Morris, as well as her two children, Dakota (Corbin) Fretz of Terre Haute, IN and RJ (Alicia Morgan) Morris of Mt. Carmel. 

One of Mary’s greatest joys was being a mother and nana. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, Ava Morris, Eila and Beau Fretz, and Freya Morgan, she loved them dearly and treasured the special relationship she shared with each of them.

Mary dedicated 29 years to Hansen Corporation, where she worked hard and built lasting relationships with some of her very best friends, before her retirement in 2022.

Mary enjoyed watching basketball and calling her friends and family just to check in or have a chat. She had a way of staying connected to the people she loved, and those conversations and everyday moments will be deeply missed. She also loved her dog, Fancy, who held a very special place in her heart and was a beloved part of her family.

Mary was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and a loving sister-in-law to Brad (Mindi) Morris and Joe Lashbrook. She was a cherished daughter-in-law to Donnie and Irene Morris.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she attended New Life Church of the Nazarene.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Betty Hawthorne; brother, Josh Hawthorne; niece, Shana Hawthorne; sister-in-law, Sheila Morris-Lashbrook, and one of her dear friends, Portia Priestly.

Mary’s life was centered around the people she loved. The love she gave to her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends will continue to live on through each of them. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know and love her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2026 at New Life Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Donnie Truelock officiating and burial to follow at Sand Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

The family invites you to wear orange to honor Mary’s favorite color.
