Mattie May Taylor, 82, of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at The Waters in Princeton. She was born on February 4, 1938 in Georgia. She had lived in Princeton most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Greater Holy Temple Church in Princeton. She loved music, enjoyed shopping, and was described by many as being a “pistol”.
Mattie is survived by her granddaughter, Dominique Dickerson of Princeton; brother, Butch Mattox of Princeton; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herschell Mattox; mother, Lucille Mattox; daughter, Lonnetta Dickerson; an infant child; first husband, Lonnie Dickerson; and second husband, Lawrence Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Dr. William W. Simmons, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery near Lyles Station. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be limited seating due to state mandated COVID-19 regulations. Social distancing and masks are required.
