Maurice L. Bolin, 86, of Francisco, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Transcendent Health Care in Owensville. He was born September 13, 1936 in Cannelton, IN, to Edward and Flossie (Gates) Bolin.
Maurice was a 1954 graduate of Francisco High School. He went on to attend and graduate from Oakland City College in 1958 with a degree in teaching. He also was a graduate from Indiana University with a Master’s Degree.
Maurice had a love for teaching, especially Literature and English, as well as caring for others. He taught at Patoka High School and, after consolidation at Princeton High School and Princeton Community High School, and there he completed his teaching career of 30 years. He was the Junior Class Sponsor for many years, as well as working with the Prom Committee. He over saw the publication of the high school year book, “Retrospect” and the high school newspaper, “Tiger Tales”.
He had lived in Francisco since 1940, moving there from Princeton, previously living in Cannelton. He attended the Francisco General Baptist Church and was a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. Maurice loved antique cars and traveling, especially going to Gatlinburg, TN.
Maurice is survived by his niece, Sue Brenton and her husband, Larry and special friends, Charles “Chuck” Peyton and his wife, Becky all of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Hazel Wilson and brothers, Alvin and Forrest Bolin.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Patrick Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Francisco Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the funeral home.
