Michael Sibbitt Obituary

Michael Harold Sibbitt, 77, of Evansville, passed away on April 9, 2023.  He was born on May 5, 1945 to Alva Leon Sibbitt, Sr and Beatrice Naomi Sibbitt (Weatherholt) in Paoli, Indiana.

Mike was known as a very good athlete in his younger years.  He played basketball, baseball, football, lifted weights, and ran cross country.  In 1966, Mike joined the Indiana State Police, where he served 11 years as a trooper, then 10 years as a Sargent Detective.  Mike received his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Evansville.  After retiring from the Indiana State Police in 1987, Mike worked for the state of Indiana as an Income Tax Investigator.  He retired for good in 2009.

He is survived by his two children, Heidi VanWinkle (Sibbitt) and Michael L Sibbitt; two grandchildren, Easton and Mallory Sibbitt, and one brother, Alva Leon (Judy) Sibbitt, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Beatrice Sibbitt, and his wife, Connie Sibbitt (Bender).

Visitation will be Sunday, April 30th from 2-4 pm at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, Indiana.  Service will be at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery with Pastor Greg Myers officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Indiana Fallen Heroes Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that provides support for funerals of Indiana police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.  Information can be found by calling (317) 431-0755.
