Omer “Sonny” Wagner, 79, of Francisco, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at The Waters of Princeton. He was born October 14, 1944 in Owensville to the late Vertis C. Wagner and Della Mae (Robbins) Newton. Sonny worked as a machinist at Snap-On for over 20 years, then worked as a truck driver, and later for the Flintkote Company. Sonny studied at Wabash Valley College and attended the Vertical Church in Fort Branch. He loved baseball, especially the Cardinals, liked watching horse races and westerns on TV, and enjoyed traveling on WRAY Radio bus trips. He also enjoyed camping at Lincoln State Park. He also dearly loved his fur baby, Jack. He was loved dearly and will be missed.
Omer is survived by his daughters, Dana Walls (Eric) of Owensville and Monica Sloan of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Cody Potter-Walls, Erica Harpe, Colton Sloan, and Tyler Sloan; great-grandchildren, Adaliah, Danni, Learah, Jentzen, Andi, and Ellerie; sister, Shelba Jean Lawrence of Princeton; close friend, Nina Lloyd of Francisco; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lisa (Thomas) Wagner; grandchild, Caleb Keepes; and siblings, Shirley Rainbolt and Ray Wagner.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, December 1, 2023 at Highland Memorial Park in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Interment will follow.
