Patricia A. Smith, 74 of Oakland City passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born May 17, 1947 in Indianapolis to Louis David and Helen (Swigart) Trimble.
She had lived in Oakland City since 2015 moving there from Jasper. She had been a nurse’s aide at many different hospitals and was a caregiver for home health care. She attended New Liberty General Baptist Church in Coe and enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Cook of Oakland City; children, Tom Smith (Judy) of Velpen, Carla Mehringer (Doug) of Jasper, Amy Peyton (Luke) of Greenwood, and Brad Smith (Anik) of Velpen; sisters, Linda Reeves of Bloomington and Sandy Seal of Mooresville, grandchildren, Erica Padgett, Staci Gentry, Derek Mehringer, Rachel Buschkoetter, Ryan Hinderliter, Leo, Cash and Rosalie Smith; and 9 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Thomas Harold Smith in 2017, sister Susie Trimble; brothers, Bill, Larry and Jim Trimble.
Visitation and funeral service will be private. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City has been entrusted with arrangements.
