Phillip "Peno" Lewis Obituary

Phillip “Peno” Wayne Lewis, 77, of Edwardsport, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at his home. He was born April 10, 1943 in Hazleton to the late Charles and Violet (Mason) Lewis. Peno worked as a coal miner in Keensburg, Illinois for about 30 years. He was a past member of the United Mine Workers of America and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He was talented in the kitchen and loved cooking and baking. He was good with his hand playing cards and was also a great mechanic, carpenter, and plumber. He was the kind of man that would give the shirt off his back to someone in need and was found to always make others smile. His greatest joy in life was being close to his family. His sister even still calling him by his nickname, “Bub”. He was dearly loved and will be missed.

Peno is survived by his children, Jackie Markey (Paul), Robert Bullock, Tony Fellows, Phillip Wayne Lewis, Jr., Tracey Dale Lewis, Robert P. Lewis (Vivian), Charles Lewis (Amy), and Kevin Lewis (April Besing); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Iris Wilkerson, Marcella Robb, Charlotte Naas, and Jean Gladish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Clarence Lewis and Johnetta Robb.
