Phyllis N. Gray, 83, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Waters of Princeton. She was born February 4, 1938 in Allendale, Illinois to the late Earnest Leo Banks and Bernadine (Nettleton) Banks and started working young as a telephone operator in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She then worked in the bakery at IGA in Princeton for over 30 years and married William Gray in 1961. They were blessed with 38 together before his passing in February of 1999. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandkids. She also enjoyed cooking.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, John Gray of Princeton and Bill Gray (Susan) of Princeton; grandchildren, Kara Gray, Kristen Strain (Conner), and Johnny Gray; great-grandchildren, Noelle and Meredith Strain; and siblings, Sue Satterthwaite and Dean Banks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Dixie Banks.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Sam Polito. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery in Allendale, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 5 until 7:00 PM Monday, April 12, 2021 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association located at 6100 Dutchman Lane, Suite 401 Louisville, KY 40205. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
