Rebecca Anna Flack, 80, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was born November 23, 1945 in Evansville, IN to Raymond William Hofman and Anna Lou Hofman. Rebecca graduated from Ft. Branch High School in 1964 and continued her education at Vincennes University. She was a member of Tri Kappa service sorority and the First United Methodist Church in Princeton.
Rebecca will be remembered for her love of family. She truly loved family more than anything else. Rebecca was a proud homemaker and worked hard to make sure her family had everything they needed. She loved attending all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and musical recitals. Rebecca raised sheep with her family and was very involved with her kids 4-H and attending county and state fairs.
She was very talented and could do most anything she put her mind to. Rebecca was the general contractor for two of her own home builds and four remodels. She did some of the work herself such as tiling, landscaping, and wallpapering. Rebecca hung wallpaper on the side, not only to make extra money, but because she enjoyed it. She got her love of home building from her father and grandfather. Even though she was capable and talented, things didn’t always go as smoothly as she wanted. One time she cut her thumb completely off on a table saw. She was rushed to the hospital and it was sewn back on.
Rebecca could also sew whatever you asked her to. She even won many awards in 4-H for her beautiful garments. Rebecca loved baking and teaching her children and grandchildren how to make yummy desserts from scratch. She was known for her homemade pie crust and left her apple dumpling recipe at Merridee’s Breadbasket in downtown Franklin, TN. Rebecca made friends wherever she went on Sanibel Island and talked to the servers about food and recipes. She even taught one of the servers how to make homemade pie crust, pies, and chicken pot pie.
Rebecca had amazing strength and never gave up. She was a breast cancer survivor of 31 years. Rebecca had double knee replacement at the same time and was accepted into an experimental study at Vanderbilt University for people with Congestive Heart Failure and A-fib in 2015.
She enjoyed shopping for things to decorate her home. Rebecca made it her challenge to find the best deals out there. She loved to relax by working outside and listening to her favorite music from her back porch on Sanibel Island’s Clam Bayou.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lucinda Jane Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Franklin Douglas Flack; son, Steve Flack (Lisa), daughters, Jill Singer Brasfield (Mark), and Jennifer Burrus (Darren); grandchildren, Austin Flack, Kayla Flack, Derek Flack, Jessica Singer, Joey Singer, Jackson Burrus, Mason Burrus, and Anna Grace Burrus; brother, Phillip Hofman (Cindy Sue).
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Rick Lance officiating. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
