Rita M. (Goldbach) Prunty, 85, of Evansville and formerly of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at University Nursing and Rehab in Evansville. She was born May 1, 1935 in Evansville to the late Victor and Anna (Unfried) Goldbach. She was a registered nurse at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, retiring in 1997. Rita was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton and was a Eucharist Minister, served on the Bereavement Committee and member of Daughters of Isabella.
Rita is survived by 3 daughters, JoAnne Ater (Alan), Beth Stephens (Tim) and Kristen Didio (Scott); 2 sons, David Prunty (Dennis) and Jon Prunty; 9 grandchildren, Lauren and Paul Ater, Ryan Marx, Erin Carpenter, Brett and Jordyn Prunty, Jenna Schofield, Maxwell and Samuel Didio; 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Elliott Ater and also, a sister, Lois Fuquay of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Goldbach in 1968; her husband, Bernard “Max” Prunty in 1972 and a daughter, Mary Schofield in 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 pm Friday, February 26, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 401 South Race Street, Princeton, Indiana 47670, with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton. A walk-through visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon Friday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the number of people allowed inside the funeral home will be limited to allow for social distancing and masks are required.
Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society at cancer.org or American Heart Association at heart.org. Donation envelopes will also be available at Colvin’s or the church.
