Robert V. Askren, 70, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born on October 22, 1950 in Evansville to Robert E. and Nellie Lavern (Arnold) Askren. He grew up in Francisco and had lived in Petersburg for many years before recently moving to Evansville. After retiring as a truck driver, he worked as a CB repairman at Busler’s Truck stop. He was a ham radio operator. He enjoyed his dogs and loved being outdoors. He was a member of Living By Grace Church in Oakland City.
Robert is survived by his wife, Roberta Jo (Harris) Askren of Evansville; children, Robert Askren (Karla) of Oakland City, Eric Askren (Bessie) of Francisco, David Askren (Jessica) of Newburgh and Leja Rexroat (Tony) of Louisville, KY; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren plus one on the way; and siblings, Kandie Hannah, Tim Askren and Bonnie Sabo, all of Oakland City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Daniel Askren; and sister, Nellie Jean Hill.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Pastor Gene Burkhart. Burial will follow at Francisco Cemetery in Francisco. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10th and again from 12 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Seating will be limited to allow for social distancing and masks will be required due to COVID-19 regulations.
