Robert Brown Obituary

Robert Dale “Bob” Brown, 74, of Patoka, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born August 6, 1951 in Princeton to the late Charles Brown and Maxine (Lynch) Brown and after graduating high school, he served in the National Guard. Bob worked about 10 years at the Highway Department, about 20 years for Hoosier Gas, then finally for Ron Hudson Farms for 20 years.

Bob was an outdoorsman; fishing, camping, hunting, and sports. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and even took his son, Gregory, to the 1987 World Series Game. He loved IU sports and Princeton Community High School sports, especially basketball. He volunteered at the high school in the “chain gang” for the football team and coached little league teams. He was known for his catfish fish fries and enjoyed catching the most in number to have braggin’ rights. For the last 20 years, he’s enjoyed camping with his wife, Shirley at Pride’s Creek Park where he had many friends and was known for daily golf cart rides with his beloved dog, Willie Bob. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shirley Brown of Patoka; children, Carrie McCammon (Terry) of Terre Haute, Gregory Brown (Amanda) of Clarksville, TN, Robin Young (Jason) of Dallas, TX, and Ryan Coomer (Amy) of Princeton; grandchildren, Cassidy McCammon (Brian Jenks), Zachary McCammon, Emily Petsch (Brendon), Elizabeth Brown, Jalyn Stough (Tyler Paulson), Rylin Stough, Paxtyn Young (Kaylee Wampler), Ravyn Coomer, Langstyn Young, and Morgan Barrett (Lance); and great-grandchildren, Gracie and Ryder Stough, Crue and Capri Paulson, Zaxton Young, and Cormac Barrett.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Pastor Donnie Truelock. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka. Visiting hours will be held from 11 until service time.
