Robert “Bob” Jines, 94, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 at his home. He was born December 26, 1925 in Princeton to the late Ottie Jines Sr. and Margaret (Barrett) Jines and lived his entire lifetime here. He served his country during WW II as a Navy Corpsman and was attached to the 2nd Marines Division and was in the invasion of Okinawa. Bob retired after over 20 years with the Princeton Fire Department and was the owner/operator of Jack Knights Parts Service in Princeton for many years. He was a member of Prince Masonic Lodge #231 F&AM in Princeton and was an avid family genealogist.
Bob is survived by his wife of 74 ½ years, Gloria “Tootie” Jines; 2 sons, Gary Jines (Laurie) and R. J. Jines (Joy) all of Princeton; a son-in-law, Mike Riley of Evansville; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly Schmitt, Courtney Clutter, Adam Jines, Eric Jines, Trace Jines, Brian Riley and Beth Petit; 14 great grandchildren; and also, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda M. (Jines) Riley in 2008; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, with Chaplain Luke Smith officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home.
