Robert McCarty Obituary

Robert E. McCarty, 96, of Francisco, passed away on Wednesday, April 15 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born April 22, 1923 in White County, IL to Wallace and Alma (Nesler) McCarty. He was a resident of Francisco for 55 years, previously living in Pike County and Mt. Carmel, IL. Robert proudly served in the US Navy during WW II as a Master Electrician on an LST. He was a life member of VFW Post 2714, the Mt. Carmel, IL Masonic Lodge 239 (receiving his 32nd Degree of Northern Masonic District of Southern Illinois), DAV, the Disabled Commanders Club and UMWA #5179.

Throughout the years, Robert enjoyed and excelled at many professions including his companies, Robert E. McCarty Truck & Tractor Service, MAC Drilling Company, Echo Equipment, and Home Vision Real Estate. He was an auctioneer/real estate broker, Superintendent for a large oil company, a Polled Hereford Broker, a retiree of Old Ben Coal Company after 25 years, operated Mac’s Café (formerly Halls) and Remco Gas Station in Francisco.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce McCarty; daughters, Patty Davis (Don) of Patoka and Shelley Knight of Francisco; grandchildren, Jeff Dickerson of Columbus, Robbie Hull of Patoka, Maxi Paris of Patoka, Neeley Muncy of Wheeling, Daniel Davis of Evansville, Mike Davis of Princeton, Lauran Williams of Franciso and Paige Blankenberger of Fort Branch; great grandchildren, Kieffer & Zack Dickerson, Dacia, RJ, Laken, Kagen, and Jacob Hull, Ethan and Eli Muncy, Paige Davis-Eddy, Devon and Brooke Davis and Charlene Reilly, Chloe Smith, Cash Williams, Harper Jo & Emersyn Blankenberger; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Crabtree (Mike) of Johnson; brother, Larry McCarty (Marie) of Grayville, IL; and good loyal friend, Doyle Worlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maxine Goldman McCarty; stepmother, Grace McCarty; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette Dickerson (Walt) and Karen Hull (John); and son, Robert E. McCarty, Jr.; granddaughter, Cindy Ann Dickerson; brothers, Warren Dale, Leroy and Wm “Sam” McCarty; sisters, Imogene Garrett, Nadine Carner, Leatrice Beard, and Roxanna Hendricks.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, IL. with military rites by Retired Military Veterans. Burial will follow the services. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
